Title: Top 10 Winning Tips for CompXM | Score 900–995/1000 | Round 1 Strategy

Hello and welcome to the CompXM 2025 2026 Winning Strategy Guide!

In this video, I’ll walk you through Top 10 Essential Tips for Round 1 of the CompXM simulation. If you follow these steps carefully, you’ll be on track to score 900 to 995 out of 1000 — and build a powerful foundation for Rounds 2, 3, and 4.

Let’s get started!

๐Ÿ” 1. Read the Industry Conditions Report (ICR)

Your first step in CompXM is to open the Industry Conditions Report. This is the most important document — it gives you all the key specifications for each market segment.

In your version, the segments might be called:

  • Traditional
  • Low End
  • High End
  • Performance
  • Size

In some exams, they may be labeled as Trip, Core, Nano, and Elite — make sure you know which is which.

Here’s the point:
Each segment has different price expectations, ideal size/performance, MTBF, and growth rates. You must identify what each product targets. That’s Tip #1: Understand each segment before making decisions.

๐Ÿ“Š 2. Use Table 3 to Update Product Positioning

Most students fail because they blindly use Table 2 data — don't do that.

Table 2 shows current segment data.
Table 3 includes the drift rate, which shows how customer preferences will shift in the coming year.

Tip #2: Use Table 3 to calculate the ideal coordinates for size and performance for each segment. Then update your product specs in R&D accordingly.

We recommend downloading or using an Excel calculator that combines Table 2 + Table 3 to project exact customer expectations for Round 1.

๐Ÿงช 3. Update R&D for All Products

Once you know the ideal size and performance, go to the R&D module.

  • Update all your products to be as close as possible to the ideal spot
  • Make sure the revision dates are on time
  • Avoid overlapping products in the same segment — that causes internal competition

If you're launching a new product, pick a segment that has growth potential and available demand. Update it accordingly.

๐Ÿญ 4. Set Production: Capacity + Automation

Next, move to the Production module.

Use your sales forecast (based on last year’s data + growth rate) to determine how much to produce.

Tip #3: Make sure you have:

  • Enough capacity to match your forecast
  • Automation between 4.0 to 6.0, depending on the product type

For example:

  • Low End → High automation (e.g., 6.0–7.0)
  • High End → Lower automation (e.g., 3.5–4.5)

If you are launching a new product, buy capacity and set automation right away. It’s better to invest in Round 1 than scramble in later rounds.

๐Ÿ’ฐ 5. Set Competitive Pricing (Marketing)

Now, go to the Marketing module and set your pricing.

Tip #4: Base your prices on what the segment expects:

  • Traditional: ~$22
  • Low End: ~$30
  • High End: ~$38
  • Performance: ~$42

(Note: These are estimates — check the Industry Report for your specific exam.)

Prices outside the expected range will hurt sales, even if your product is great.

๐Ÿ“ข 6. Promotion & Sales Budget

For promotion and sales, you need to set the right budget to build awareness and accessibility.

Our recommended Round 1 budget:

  • $2,000 for Traditional and Low End (larger segments)
  • $1,500–2,000 for smaller segments (like High End or Elite)

You can also just use $2,000 across the board if you prefer simplicity.

These investments help grow your market share — especially in the first two rounds.

๐Ÿ“ฆ 7. Sales Forecasting – Critical for Success

Forecasting is where most students fail.

Use this basic method:

Sales Forecast = Last Year’s Sales × Growth Rate + Inventory Adjustment

Tip #5: Check your last year’s unit sales and remaining inventory, then multiply by the segment growth rate (found in the ICR).

Then input the forecasted unit sales into both:

  • The Marketing module (sales forecast field)
  • The Production module (to match units with demand)

๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ’ผ 8. HR Module – Invest Early

Next is the HR Module.

In Round 1, make the maximum investment:

  • Recruiting Spend: $5,000
  • Training Hours: 80

This improves productivity, reduces labor cost per unit, and gives you a workforce advantage over competitors in Rounds 2–4.

๐Ÿงพ 9. Finance Module – Fund Efficiently

To fund your decisions (R&D, capacity, HR, TQM), go to the Finance Module.

Use a mix of:

  • Stock Issue: ~$39,000
  • Long-Term Debt: ~$15,000
  • Short-Term Debt: ~$15,000

Keep at least $50 million in working capital to avoid emergency loans and maintain strong financial health.

Tip #6: Emergency loans hurt your score. Avoid them at all costs by planning ahead.

⚙️ 10. TQM/Sustainability – Long-Term Investment

If your CompXM version includes TQM or Sustainability, invest early.

Round 1 suggestion:

  • Spend $1,000 on each initiative

Focus on ones that reduce R&D cycle time, increase productivity, and improve customer satisfaction.

These investments don’t pay off immediately, but they compound over time. Start early to benefit in Rounds 3 and 4.

[Summary: Round 1 Checklist]

Let’s summarize the 10 key steps:

  1. Open the Industry Conditions Report
  2. Use Table 3 to forecast ideal segment coordinates
  3. Update R&D for all products, including new launches
